| AGISTRI
is the least known of the Saronic Islands yet it lies just one hour
from the Athens’ port of Piraeus. The island is off the tourist
track and plays host to only those fortunate few who have made Agistri
their personal retreat. It is small, just 14 sq.km, densely forested
and home to fewer than 1,000 people. Few vehicles travel the ten kilometers of road that connects its three main villages, yet minutes from the harbour, you will discover waterfront tavernas, open-air bars and the beach umbrellas which shade the golden sands. Agistri has three main villages, Skala, Milos and the agricultural village of Limenaria. Due to its size and tranquility, Agistri island is sometimes described as the best kept secret of the Saronic Gulf. The island is an ideal resort for those who are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday in a friendly environment. |
Getting
to AGISTRI ISLAND from Athens is very easy, whether you are getting
there straight from Athens airport or getting there after a layover
in Athens. Athens airport to the port of Piraeus is just around an hours
drive or just over an hour by Metro or the direct airport express bus
from Athens airport to Piraeus port of Athens. There are regular boat services that link Piraeus with Agistri island. The journey time on the catamaran is about 55 minutes. There are also frequent connections from Piraeus to Aegina island the approximate journey time on the hydrofoil to Aegina is 30 minutes, and then a short boat journey to Agistri. From Aegina island there is also a boat taxi service to Agistri on a 24 hour basis. From Agistri island there is access to the rest of the Saronic islands, Poros, Hydra and Spetses. |
