SKIATHOS ISLAND the largest of the Sporades island chain and offers some of the best sandy beaches in Greece. The island of Skiathos has always been very popular for holidays from the beginning of tourism in Greece, in the 1960's.The rich and famous were the first holiday visitors to the island mainly because of its superb beaches and picturesque Skiathos Town with its red tiled roof buildings and its maze of cobbled streets. These were followed by more holiday makers, especially since the introduction of charter flights. Since then Skiathos island has remained a firm favorite as an island destination in Greece. Most people come to pine covered Skiathos island for its golden sandy beaches and the nightlife, this is not taking away from the fact that the island of Skiathos is also an ideal and popular family holiday destination.
Getting around Skiathos island is very easy. Skiathos is a small island and apart from hiring a car, there is an excellent public transport system, that runs until early morning hours in the summer. Boats leaving from Skathos Town harbor can take the visitor on to various beaches around the island. Getting to Skiathos island, apart from the many inexpensive daily flights from Athens and the numerous international flights, there also boat connections from Volos, Salonika and aghios Konstantinos. From Skiathos islands one can easily visit the nearby islands of Alonissos and Skopelos.

Picturesque SKIATHOS TOWN with its red-roofed tiled houses and buildings is build on two hills. Probably the most popular resort of Skiathos island, Skiathos Town offers a good selection of nightlife, a great variety of tavernas and restaurants and it is a very good base for exploring the island and going off on excursions to the nearby islands of Skopelos and Alonissos. During your stay in Skiathos town visit the the islet of Bourtzi, the old harbor used by excursion boats and fishermen and the main street of Papadiamanti for nightlife as well as Platia Trion Ierarchon with its many tavernas overlooking the old harbor.	AGIA PARASKEVI, mainly because of its fine sandy beach has become a lively area, with a wide variety of bars and tavernas. The beach at Agia Paraskevi offers a variety of water sports and a couple of kilometers away you will also find a diving school. Agia Paraskevi is a quieter resort making it ideal for a family holiday. Agia Paraskevi takes its name from the little church of Agia Paraskevi to be found in this area.	The beaches of Skiathos are numerous, and are some of the best in Greece.KANAPITSA Beach, MEGALI AMMOS Beach and VASILIAS beach are just some to mention. Sandy Kanapitsa Beach is also known as one of the cleanest beaches of Greece and almost every year wins the blue flag award, Kanapitsa bay is considered as one the best beaches in Skiathos if not the best. Megali Ammos and Vasilias beaches are situted not far out of Skiathos Town, thus providing the perfect combination of beach resorts with the night life and shopping of Skiathos town, not far away and easily reached by local transport.
TROULOS has a superb beach which has 3 tavernas and a restaurant on the beach serving traditional Greek food at reasonable prices. Troulos beach with clear shallow waters is ideal for children and there are also a good selection of water sports while a round the island boat trip operates daily. Troulos is an ideal location for families and couples seeking a relaxing holiday in Skiathos with excellent evening entertainment.
