Hydra: photographs and places to stay (archive of the 1999 Hydra page)
The Hydra page of the original GreeceAD.com (1999–2000) was a small gallery: a set of thumbnails you clicked to see a picture at full size, under the heading General views of Hydra. The page also carried the agency’s tagline, Hotels, villas, apartments, studios: any island, any duration, and a row of links to the island groups it covered: Crete, the Dodecanese, the Ionian islands, the Saronic islands, the Sporades, the Cyclades and the North-East Aegean.
About Hydra
Hydra is a Saronic island a short sea crossing from Athens. Its harbour town is a semicircle of stone houses around a small port. The island is known for having no cars on its roads: people walk, ride donkeys, or take small boats along the coast.
Looking for a stay near Hydra
The Saronic islands are grouped with Athens under Attica in the current directory. Open Athens for the departure point, Aegina for the closest island of the group, and the islands page for the rest. If you want a hand choosing, use the stay request form.
How the old gallery worked
The page was a plain photo index, typical of the early web: small thumbnails in a grid, each opening a larger picture in the same window. There was little text, apart from the title and the line about hotels, villas, apartments and studios on any island for any length of stay. At the bottom, the island groups were listed so that a visitor could continue to another region without going back to the home page.

This page is kept as an archive of the original GreeceAD.com site. For current places to stay, use the independent directory: all stays, regions, islands, or ask for a stay. GreeceAD is an independent, unofficial directory and does not take bookings itself.
